Here at NBC we love to relive the glory days of the UNSR. That's why we've decided to air this, the 1985 edition of Eurovoice held right here in Icholasen. This Eurovoice was held right in the middle of heightened Cold War tensions between Icholasen and Fremet. It was a wild time. Glad those Fremetians don't pose us a problem now, 35 years later. (Checks notes). Oh.
But anyway, it was a time of great music, great outfits and glory for socialism. It was also the year before Eilidh Whiteford was turned to the dark side of crapitalism and 'liberalism' (ew!) by a '''famine''' that actually never happened. It was actually just reactionary propaganda against the glory of our revolution. Those darn reactionaries.
But anyway, onto the show!

We have all sorts of European Countries coming here offering a message of like peace and love in these trying times of global tension - and we convalesce around cheesy pop and also perms. These two things are really like the bond that keeps Europe together and like totally tubular !

A huge stadium encircled with flags from all across Europe is full of spectators waiting to watch the artists perform at the 1985 Eurovoice Song Contest. The UNSR is using this event as a way to show that it is liberalising, that it is opening to the outside world - but was it ? The UNSR was gerontocracy at its best - a lumbering Communist state which at Eurovoice presented an image of itself as a country, a society, that fitted with the times and provided for its citizens. But, in reality, this was time in which Eilidh Whiteford struggled on her onion farm, toiling for limited gain.
Carrie Chadshaw: Hello all and welcome to the UNSR. Today's Eurovoice competition will begin shortly, after our Premier Luinok Lrushnuz cuts the ribbon to declare this competition officially open.
Lrushnuz walks over to the ribbon -- with much guidance. He is in his doddering otage and only really just about manages to cut the ribbon. Ruling from 1968, his sudden death in 1987 leads to a period of great instability in the UNSR, eventually leading to its dissolution in 1990.
Carrie: Thank you so much Premier for all that you do. Now, let's hear the songs we've been longing so much to hear. Let's give it up our first artist, Bravo from Spain, singing Lady Lady!

Carrie: Do you know what Stefan, it does make me feel good. Next we're headed to a caribbean paradise, the French Overseas Territory of the Gentiles Islands. I hope you guys get your independence from the pesky French one day! What is it with imperialists... Crazy people. Wow.

Carrie: What a lovely song. I hope one day I can visit your country. Ah, wait, I'm hearing through my earpiece that travel from the UNSR is forbidden. Carrie shrugs. Especially, I'm hearing, for someone with my talents. Oh, stop it big brother. I'm not that talented... We're now going to hear a song from Czechoslovakia called Skořápky Ořechů.

Carrie: What a song. Really strong message about nuts. Next up is heterosexual Elton John who just last year in 1984 married (human female) Renate Blauel. Wow. I wish them 50 years of married heterosexual bliss!!!

Carrie: Oh Elton. I'm not sure I'm still standing after that virile testosterone filled heterosexual performance. What a beefcake ! Next up is Fremetian Nena singing 99 Luftballons. Imagine if there were 3960 Luftballons. Wouldn't that be silly.
Carrie: That's a lot of luftballons. Of course, letting that many go is totally okay for the environment, and definitely will not kill thousands of turtles. Next up is Divine from the UNSR. She really is an iconic biological woman. Carrie listens to her earpiece. I have been informed that that stunning woman is in fact a man. Wow, it's amazing what makeup can do - I couldn't tell.

Carrie: Our final song of tonight was used in the hit film Rocky III or whatever number it was. That film is so good. Such raw masculine ferocity - Elton knows all about that. Let's hear Survivor sing 'Eye of the Tiger'.

Carrie: And that was our final performance! We will now have a break while the national juries deliberate on what songs are their favourites. The juries can award 12, 10 and 8 points for their favourite songs, 7-1 points for other songs that aren't quite in their top 3, and also two 0 points for the songs they liked the least. Countries cannot vote for themselves. Please watch this propaganda whilst we wait.

And so that was the the results show. As we now know, all the 12s Inquista got acted as daggers into the heart of Nicoleizian communism and lead to its downfall. But, we rose again against the capitalists, the Inquistans, the billionaihs. We'll be ready to reckon with the Inquistans at Eurovoice 39.......
